You need a three dimensional terrain model, 3D buildings model, make a three dimensional planning or just to see your house and surroundings in 3D? All this and much more can be done with our data created by our photogrammetry department. What do we do? Photogrammetry is measuring objects from aerial photographs. Spatial terrain image is displayed on the screen with special hard- and software which is used to create maps and plans.
Our employees update data in certain mapping areas which means we change data from the original database to match the situation in nature during the time photo was taken.
Updating data using aerial photographs is much more precise than using ortho images (previously used to update Base Map) and allows add height information (i.e the height of the roof edge when adding/updating buildings).
Although collected data is more precise when using aerial photographs we still also do field works to map objects not visible on the photo. With what? The need to create a photogrammetry department came from Estonian Land Board’ s decision to change from geometric mapping to geoinformative mapping. That means from now on all elements of the map have also attribute information. We created 6 new workspaces with special photogrammetry hard- and software.
We use ArcGIS and StereoAnalyst and special Leica stereo screen with stereo glasses and topo mouse created specially for stereo works.
We get aerial photos from Estonian Land Board. Two monitors are used while working – regular map view in one and special stereo view in other. Stereo view allows seeing a 3 dimensional picture when wearing stereo glasses.
To whom?
Our biggest clients at the moment are Estonian Land Board and Tallinn City Government.
We have updated following areas of Estonian National Topographic Database for Estonian Land Board: • Tõstamaa 2T – 762 km2 • Tõstamaa 3T – 500 km2 • Harju 1T – 345 km2 • Tartu 2T – 225 km2 • Lääne 1T – 456 km2 • Lääne 4T – 374 km2
Tallinn is also updating its basic data. At the moment we are updating the data of Pirita city district.
